Long Island Wine Country Biking:
Explore Long Island’s North Fork wine region
by bicycle. Spend the morning riding along country roads through local farms, vineyards
and historic whaling villages. Indulge in a gourmet catered lunch served on the bluff
of Horton’s Point Lighthouse overlooking
Long Island Sound. Then spend the afternoon wine tasting and touring in the North Fork’s
burgeoning wine country.
Trip Duration:
The trip starts in Greenport’s newly renovated Village Square
at 10 am and ends at Pugliese Vineyards in Cutchogue at about 5pm. Return to Greenport
by 5:30 and NYC by about 8pm.
Trip Length:
The tour has a short option of about 15 miles and a long option of about
35 miles. However, because Winding Road Tours has a big, beautiful van, with air conditioning,
snacks, drinks, cool tunes, and 12 bike racks on top, our guests should feel free
to flag down the van at any time. A quick re-fueling break, or simply storing your
bike on a rack will allow you to enjoy the rest of the day, sometimes on four wheels
instead of two (trust us, we like the company). We’ll give you the Winding
Roads Tours secret sign for hailing the van at the beginning of the trip.
Terrain:
Flat!! Remember, we’re on Long Island!! Ok, its mostly flat, but there
are a few rolling hills on the long option.
